"Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason so few engage in it"

Happy Holi to entire GlobalVox family, I did see the pictures and I did sense actually Holi happened. So thank you all for sharing the pictures and making my day. These moments are the only memories, and the beauty of the MEMORY is you would never know you are making one!

As we all know we have great Sales team in place and now we are busy to ensure the team is well oiled to start gaining traction on sales. People die of boredom, psychological conflict and disease. They do not die of hard work and all we need to continue doing is hard work as it always pays off. Regardless of what the outcome is do your due diligence as failures are well deserved post hard work.

April is the month of Spring and it represents new life, colors and excitements. This month the focus is to bring life to Customer support 24/7 and make sure Sales and operations start working hand in hand for implementations and deliveries. All major mission critical issues would be identified and expedited to ensure we have a right direction in place.

GlobalVox culture has always been woven around recognizing its team as heart and soul of the organization. I want to extend my sincere gratitude for your continued commitment and dedication to make us reach where we are! Congratulations to all team members onshore and offshore for your promotions!

Keep up the good work and Happy colorful Holi to all of you, your family members and friends. Be Safe, Work Hard, Eat Well and Sleep Tight

How to learn anything

2 weeks back, through some reference, we got a requirement to develop a NFT portal. Now, the first thing that came to my mind was “What the hell is NFT?”, and there started my journey into reading and learning about NFT.

But, I also realized how learning works and these are my 2 cents on it.

Discovery 1: Work is elastic.

It adjusts according to the time available to complete it. So if you have 15 days to finish something - you will end up taking 15 days. But if you have 5 days to finish the same thing - and if you really want to do it - believe me you will do it. Mind works faster under pressure.

Discovery 2: Learning is fun.

Getting curious about something and then diving in is something I really enjoy - and i believe it is fun for most of us. Knowledge brings power.

Discovery 3: The 10,000 hour rule

If you google how much time it takes to learn something you are likely to end up getting a lot of search results talking about the 10,000 hour rule. I figured out that this theory as popularized by a professor from Florida - talks about being a master/expert at something. But in most practical things, we do not really need to become an expert. Learning is continuous and it has to be fast.

Discovery 4: 20 hours is all that it takes to be reasonably good

I started logging my time to learn about NFT’s, and I was surprised that I was able to get pretty good understanding on this just within 20 focused hours. Ofcourse, you cannot be an expert in this short time - but you can certainly grasp the fundamentals, and that itself is pretty good.

My steps to learning:

Step 1: Read about the very basic - the genesis and brief history of the topic.

Step 2: Start taking notes on all the jargons that you come across in your reading, and trust me there could be many of them. But very briefly brush upon all of them.

Step 3: Take notes. We tend to forget very fast. So take very short notes.

Step 4: Look for short videos / courses on youtube/udemy etc. Signup for a short course and go through it.

Step 5: Discuss/Teach. They say when you teach you learn twice. So discuss your new learning with someone and it will cement your learnings into your brain. Talk about your new topics/skills with as many people as you can.

Step 6: Practice

Step 7: Every few days go through your notes again and again.

These steps have always worked for me and I am sure they would work for you. Ofcourse, you can tweak them to suit your style. So I conquered NFT’s and they stand for Non-Fungible Tokens. It helped me talk with our prospect client - talk his language, understand his requirement, impress him with the knowledge that we had, and give a more realistic, calculated and justified time/cost effort estimate.
